Welcome
The Obrajuelo Wind Energy Project (OWEP) is a 75MW wind-powered generating station under development in southern Nicaragua, Central America. There is an IEC Class I wind resource, and the area is marked by high local and regional electricity prices and exhibits strong political, regulatory, and public support for wind power.
Because of its excellent wind resource, over the past several years Central America has become a hotbed of interest for wind generated electricity. This is especially true of southern Nicaragua, with its trade-winds which blow across the lake.
The OWEP has been under development since 2005 and has a head start of 2 or more years over other projects in the areas of wind data, permitting, and transmission studies. The project has environmental approval and a preliminary generating license. Final licensing is expected shortly.
This web page provides general information about the project's siting, corporate backing, and finances. For wind data and other more detailed information about the project, please contact us to request our Non-Disclosure Agreement and give details of your interest in the project.
Thank you for your interest in OWEP. Please contact us with questions at any time.
